Placing the same card (in the same orientation) under the blocking card is well allowed. Both paths are connected.

Thanks for the reply Frederic.

Then a question... if I move the ladder under the blocking card as you suggest (and as I suspected) in my mind it creates a short path starting from the blocking one to the ladder.

Then? I assume i can't continue from the ladder in any way, so what's the point in having the ladder there? I'm sorry asking something that must be very clear for some others but as you can see things aren't 100% easy for newcomers.

I so wish the other topic here about ladders had images visible, I know you've been talking about it extensively already.

I hope to clear it out before saturday when we want to try out the game!

Thanks for helping.

There is no point to placing it there gameplay-wise. He's just saying it's a legal placement. You can't start a brand new path with a ladder card, the ladder card must always connect to an already existing path. His example just shows the existing path doesn't have to have been previously accessible.

[o]The "Build a Research Station" action from the base game has been retitled "Build a Structure" in Pandemic Legacy. So anybody can build a structure by discarding the card of the city they are in to build any of the available structures in that city.

The Operations Expert can just build structures anywhere without needing to discard cards. So he can make structures much more easily.[/o]

Has anyone compiled a full set of spoilers for Pandemic Legacy yet? I remember one came out pretty quickly after Risk Legacy came out. I respect that most people aren't interested, but I'm sure a few folk are curious

At the beginning of each game, every player can choose whichever character they want out of the pool of all available characters. It does not need to be the same character that was played previously. In fact, the back of every character card has a log you should fill out that lists the "month" that was played, who played the character, whether you won or lost, and the date. So swapping is allowed if not encouraged :)

thanks a lot mkrajew,
this opens up a lot of strategic decision

Also another difference from the base game is that in Legacy you first set up the board with the viruses. Then you choose the Funding cards to add to the game and deal out starting hands. Then you choose characters. So you can see how the initial board is set up and what cards each person has and use that information in order to choose your characters.

The person who was dealt 3-of-a-kind? Yeah, you should be the Scientist :)

D'oh! right, yes, fixed, and now you need to fix your quote! :)

I assume the same as you because of the specific wording.

Yup, i guess we'll just roll with that!

You have the correct interpretation. Starting from the base, with two 2-ships, he has a total of four hexes he can travel to/through. He doesn't get everything within a four hex radius. The rules are under 'Calculate Income' on page 6, and there are examples on page 8 to support this.

Hi, I´ve been busting my brains all of this week around this precious little gem of a game, just soloing it in the introductory scenario with a different hero each time, correcting my mistakes and rereading the rules in order to be able to teach it to other 3 players next weekend with, perhaps, a foray into some of the missions. Meanwhile, I´m confronted with the following doubts:

In the rules it says:

Promethium Tank (Room II)
The Hero activating this room performs an Unstoppable melee or ranged attack(depending on which side is activated). The attack targets all Enemies within the specified attack range of this room. The amount of damage is equal to the number of dice used to activate the room.

Now, the room has 4 dice slots 2 with unstoppable melee attack symbols and 2 with unstoppable ranged attack symbols, my questions are:

Can each one hero use up to 3 dice in this room (or, for that matter, any other room) or are they limited to just 1 or 2?

If each can use 3 dice does that mean that they each can activate the room to, say, make 3 unstoppable ranged attacks or is this limited to only 2, since there are only 2 icons of ranged attacks?

The attack targets all enemies in a single zone in the specified attack range or all enemies in a tile in the specified attack range, regardless of the zones each of them may be in?

Finally, since any room can only be activated 3 times each round can the following occurr?

One hero activates a room with 3 dice and then moves out, another moves in and activates it again with 3 dice and, finally another does the exact same thing?

Thanks, and by the way, this to the game designer, what lovely puzzles you´ve made for us all with this game.

I've found a French language copy of the game for MSRP. Having seen a bit of the game, it appears fairly language independent save for the manual which can be found in English on these very internets. I also do know a little French. I should be good to go, right?

Completely right. All ladder cards are connected with each other, making cave-in cards useless in-between 2 ladder cards.

The game is language independent. It might be a little annoying looking up the iconography even in an English rulebook since the names will be in French. That said, this is one of the best games ever made imho, so I'd get it. It's very highly regarded.

Which expansion are you talking about? Volcanoes?

Yes it was the Volcanoes mini expansion. Although I should point out that the expansion was bagged together at Essen ( I assume as a show special) and not included in the actual boxed game.
