Can you deliberately take Wounds instead of discarding Wood/Food for Weather effects?

For example, when you have just one Food left and have to discard it, because of the rainy weather, and then you would have nothing to eat during the night, can you deliberately take the (single) Wound for the unfulfilled demand to keep the Food for the night, in order to prevent taking two Wounds then?
