This is how I feel about variable VPs:1) Variable VPs in general can be a reasonable approach to balancing.
2) I don't like the one-size-fits-all approach (mix 3p+4p, mix expansion scoring and no expansion scoring). At least it's limited to one map.
3) I don't like the numbers they picked (even if I ignore 2) above), as they are based on tons of games by/with beginners/less-skilled players (which I define as being rated <1000 on snellman). Balancing only becomes relevant for somewhat advanced players, so the numbers should only be based on their games.
Regarding season 24, the "lessest faction" :p I picked is Swarmlings. However in my "variable VPs" game I picked Auren, though it probably wasn't the best choice despite the extra start VPs.
