If we were fuzzy about something, we would pull out the rulebook and look up the relevant passage. (We never assumed anything). It would often be 2+ weeks between sessions.I think some of the rule changes were disguised in Season 1--like they didn't want you to suspect that XX or YY might be affected/changed during the game. Season 2 is like "these spots on the board will get stickers are we don't care if you know about this before it happens". Like you don't know what the stickers are going to be, but you know that something will show up there eventually. I think Season 1 tried to be sneakier about where new stickers would be applied, but resulted in some of them being forgotten to be applied or forgotten that they existed.
