Well gotta say this thread is already more interesting than I thought it would be. Here we have some players dead set against it, and then others who are all for it.

I personally fall somewhere in the middle, kind of closer to Steve. I think it mostly comes down to knowing the other opponents and if they are fine with it. Personally I would be--as I said above if I can make a deal with someone such that we're both doing better off knowing that information and acting upon it, we've made moves to improve our standing and that's good. But it's also adding an element of trading/negotiating to a game that otherwise doesn't have it.

And sure, pretty much any game could have this--you can begin to talk about your strategic plans and work things out with other players who are willing to do so. But the game certainly takes on a slightly different feel.

As such I suspect I really won't do it in online play given it is clear some players would be really against it. Admittedly though I'm not breaking rules, but it appears I'd somewhat be breaking a social contract and people wouldn't be as interested in playing with me. If not for that though...I really would do this more often. The other players can always ignore me or turn me down, but those times it did work out...well we'd both presumably be better off for having done so, so it's a bit sad to think I'm leaving behind small things that could improve my chances to win.
