Great review! I love this game too!

What about a review of The Ladies of Troyes? I have it, but am yet to get it to the table.

I think LoT makes the game better. You get more content. You double the amount of activity cards. There are more crazy ways for cards to come out, more paths to consider, more variety. More scoring cards. More events. More. More. More. And while this normally would be enough for me to vote YES on an expansion, there are other things that I think push it beyond a simple yes and into a resounding yes.

If you add the Ramparts module with the Purple Die module, you open up even more options. You get one extra die per round to start, which makes you ever-so-less-likely to get screwed on a roll. But you get more choices out of the gate. Your guaranteed die (the purple die) allows you to plan for an action later in the round knowing that die will be available. You can prepare to chain your actions. However, at the same time you get the excruciating decision of whether to hold that die or use it early for something you need.

Another thing the Ramparts do is give you more abilities that don’t rely on die values. These abilities help you fight events, reuse dice, get extra money. Overall, they make you more powerful and make bad events slightly less punishing. This adds up to more FUN for our group. Combine more choices with more fun and you get a better package.

Another thing I like about LoT is that the new rules basically fit in with existing rules, so they are easy to add on.

Troyes is great with or without LoT. But with it, it’s just more great. It’s a good addition to a very good game.
