I agree with most of the sentiment so far, but I will add that Xenos can have an excellent opening with R1 Gaia Mine scoring, with Gaia 3vp under Navigation. Build a RL take it and use 4K on Nav. This gives at least 3 Gaia Planets on R1 and if played correctly, a chance at 4.
