They should offer a bonus in combat, though, don't you think?Thematically, it would be pretty weird, if they were exactly the same as regular army units in combat.
Also, the bonuses are hindering each other.
In combat, it is better to mix them with regular army units (so they do not die so easily), but then you lose the movement advantage.
