You can add one of these guys (troop) to any other unit, regardless of unit size - that number in the gray box. So, Scythed Chariot says "1", you can add one of them so there are two troops in the unit: the Levie and the Scythed Chariot. Three Takabara and a Sparabara for a "4" troop unit, you can add a Levie troop to them for a "5" troop unit.See?
