Thank you very much for the explanation; that's helpful. I knew that the order of play was critical for some things as you say, but wasn't sure from our first game whether this was the case in this instance.Thinking about it I can see that moving the ships and nobles before paying for troops and bribes (as in the summary of play) might seem more logical in case the ships and nobles change hands later on as a result of bribery.
