Gingko biloba is a tree that occurs in Eastern Asia, and is very weird in that it belongs in the same group of plants as the conifers (spruce, pine etc.), but has "leaves" rather than needles. Not the same type of leaves as the flowering plants, but it to the untrained eye they certainly look like that, e.g., broad and flat. Very few species in that group have this. The fruits smell bad, but are considered a deliciousy in some parts of China. Often grown as an ornamental tree in many parts of the world. Sometimes called "temple trees".↧
