Side-note:
We don't like random too much, so we played with three houserules:
1) Draw two occupations and choose one
2) We wrote down, what dice numbers were rolled (on 2 separate dices and 2 sections (when you need higher number and lower number)). So you can't roll same number again, until there are less then 3 numbers left.
3) The one who runs out of Vikings goes last, and so on. So the order of players for the next round is based not upon sitting next to player, who places workers last, but on your own strategy.

I'm always interested in a variant for the dice. I love this game. It's a masterpiece IMO - and I'm not an Uwe fan. That said, the dice are the only thing which detract from my experience. It doesn't feel good to roll poorly, nor does it feel good to roll well when your opponent is rolling poorly. I understand the reasoning for implementing dice, but I wish there was a balanced variant to do without them.
