Thread: Ninjato:: Rules:: Failing to kill an elite guard

Sort of a follow up to a previous question about revealing elite guards, but this has to do with failing to defeat him.

If you are going up against an elite guard that just been flipped over from a "bonsai" attack, what happens to him if you can't beat him? Though logic would say that the guard would stay in the house, i'm thinking the card goes into the discard pile but his elite treasure (the highest value flipped over to red) would stay in the house.

If this is true, than the rules dictate that after fleeing with my sword between my legs, i add another treasure to the house and put the guard back over the entrance.

Seeing that there are still "standard" treasures left in the house (especially if the elite was drawn early), what is the order of fighting regular guards versus fighting the theoretical elite that is still there (indicated by his treasure)?

All off this was explained very vaguely in the rules(if at all), so i've just been going by the literal reading of what is NOT written in the rules. thanks.
