Thread: Dungeon Lords:: Rules:: Thieves and Trap Blocks

Apologies if I was too busy whipping imps to locate the proper answer.

I had a two-point trap-blocking thief infiltrate my dungeon. Jerk. Once those two points were blocked, any traps would do full damage, right? Or are two points blocked in each round of battle? I thought the FAQ would clarify it, but the last paragraph threw me a dart of confusion.

Does it work like a priest who will heal his little heart(s) worth every round a monster attacks?

From the FAQ:

How does the anti-trap ability work?
You can imagine it this way: prepare damage blocks above each adventurer according to the trap text, as if there were no thief or paladin (but do not assign damage yet). Now remove one block for each trap icon in the party, starting with the blocks prepared for the first adventurer, etc. Assign the remaining damage, if any is left. The prevented damage is not dealt.

Okay, so that makes sense. My thief blocks two. My pendulum does three damage, so one damage gets assigned.

This works the same way every round, regardless of whether some damage was prevented in previous rounds, as long as there are any surviving adventurers with the anti-trap skill.

Oh crap. Did the thief get two more blockers? The way we played, once they were used, that was it for the entire fight. But if it works the same way every round? If I had a goody-two-paladin join the thief and prevent four trap damage every round, then I'd cancel my trap-of-the-month subscription.

A little clarity would be nice. Does the thief/paladin block every round if they already used their special talent?

Thanks.
