I mean really you can't consumate because the neighbors are doing it? Or you can't plow your field because someone else already did. Those aren't interesting mechanics, that is asinine. No wonder Europe was in the Dark Ages for so long.
This is a very common misapprehension on the part of potential players: that the game is in any way a simulation of actual farming. It is not, any more than Caylus is a simulation of building a village to aid and abet in building a castle to suit the king, nor Le Havre is a simulation of a mercantile ship-building economy. All of them are abstracts with a theme layered on. All of them could be easily be re-themed (well, maybe not easily, depending on the amount of text), and they would perform exactly the same way.
