How do to long guns work?
For example: you have 4 cannons. Do you have to roll 4 dice and then reroll all successes (skulls) to determine where the damage will be?

The initial roll (=cannons) only determines how many of your shots hit.
Once you know how many hits you have, you have to roll those again to see where they hit.
If any of those come up with [microbadge=17763], only then does the target player get to choose where to apply the damage (Chain/Grape shot can't redirect these hits).
We had this querried in a game yesterday. What you have said is how I figured it would be played, but neither the instructions nor the FAQ seem to say anything about it. Is there an official answer from the designer somewhere?
Thanks
Not sure about any official answer, but it is in the rules. Though in a two-step process.
Under Long Guns (p.9): ...roll a die for each of your "Cannons". Inflict a hit for each succes...
Now look up what to do with hits. This is under Combat - Hit-Locations & Damage (p.14) and pretty straight forward, I think.
When reading this part, just remember that Chain- and Grape- shots cannot be used with "Long Guns".
