I think some people like the possibilities that overt complexity promises. Go is a game of infinite possibilities, but they aren't readily apparent upon opening the box.

But then how do we explain the people who prefer games with more complex rulesets over Go, even when they do understand the infinite possibilities?

Because those games have "something else" to offer?

Which game do you think people would prefer? Go with 1 page of rules, or Go with 100 pages of rules?
