So we played our first games of Jaipur over the weekend--and then proceeded to play it like another 3 times. Each game we would play that same thing would happen, we sat down intending to play a game, maybe two, then boom 5 games later. It just feels so well thought out and balanced and is an incredibly fun little game. It also helps that it plays incredibly fast. Actually the game as a whole not so much because of its mechanics, but because of the way it feels reminds me greatly of another fav of mine Lost Cities.
The only two big issues we have had so far with the game is, first we wish it played more then two players! We really wanted to take it to our game night the other night but it only plays 2 :soblue:. Thankfully though we have read some variants and it sounds like the game plays very well if you just shuffle 2 copies of Jaipur together:meeple::meeple::meeple:.
The second issue is just that I have beat Amanda every single game but one. I think we have played about 8 games so far and she, as she always does, kicked my butt the first game! I then had the game click with me and began dominating. For some reason games that revolve around economics/cash such as No Thanks! or Intrigue Amanda is really not good at, where as they are one of my stronger genres. I think after about the 4th game I looked at her and said you realize and she interupted me with "yep, this is going to be one of those games that I beat you 3 out of 100 games...sigh it was fun while it lasted".
I think Jaipur will be a game that does see a lot of play in our houshold. I just think we will have to follow it up with a deduction game like NOIR: Killer vs. Inspector or a spacial recognition game like The Stars Are Right since she is really good at those genres where as they are my worst. That or I could just get really stoned before we play :laugh:::cool::p:whistle::whistle:
