Yea, I totally agree with that. Despite being a very tactical game, Loyang requires you maintain a multi-turn perspective. Pretty much every turn I have to spend a few minutes to review what I have in the stock, what I have in the fields, what customers I and my opponent have, and what I need to be looking for.
But as a matter of fact, I score normally on yucata... So, no, I think you might by just rusty... ;-)
