Ok. We HAVE to be playing wrong. Our first game lasted a mere 25 minutes. We both felt like we did next to nothing.
My second play felt a little like that. The luck of the draw plus turn order left me without the ability to accomplish much. But in that game we were also using Module C, which doesn't give you as much to do. (You have to waste actions getting rid of clue tokens.)
I agree with Tigiba; you learn to look for the ways to get bonus actions. I think it is pretty important to build your track and move your train along so that you get bonus actions during the scoring rounds. Remember that each scoring round you get to take EVERY stopwatch action that your train has passed. So you can take the early actions on your track up to three times (three scorings) - or even six times if you double them with a postcard.
Once you get the hang of it, it won't be unusual to score over 150 points. However, the game can move along quickly. Even playing well, a game can easily be done in under an hour. I think that's a good thing.
