Hi all. After finishing what seems to be one of the most enjoyable games I've ever played (4 players, all new), I am left with many questions so here goes, thanks for the help! (while writing I found rules for some questions; I left them here in case others were wondering and couldn't find the answer in the rules).
OK, I'll try it.
1. For the beasts symbols on island hexes, they only matter when exploring the hex, so only once right? (by adding a beast to the hunting deck)
yes!
2. There is a Starting Item (Hammer something) that gives the players 1 gray token (twice as all the other starting items). Does this mean that if I have it at beginning of game I can just take 2 gray tokens immediately for the remainder of the game? Or are these 2 tokens used only 2 times over the course of the game? It doesn't seem to make sense to interpret it as getting 2 gray tokens for the rest of the game, because it would be kind of silly to have this item unused immediately at the start of the game with this intepretation.
hammer and nails give you twice a game a brown pawn for one use only.
3. Can anybody support me to build my character's special item? I understand that
"[...]on each of the Character boards (and are only available to
build by that player)"
build by that player)"
But do not understand if I need to build it by myself or I can be supported by somebody else (or a brown pawn).
You must be the one who takes the action but you can get help from any available source you want.
4. When the red die says "fight a beast of value 3" I guess I only compare my weapons level with 3 and either win (with no other gain) or lose (and all players will get wounds). Right?
yes!
5. The cook has his Fireplace built, with the ability to heal 2 wounds for a food token during night phase. This ability can be used only once per round? Any specific rule that applies to all these items that they can only be used only once per round?
All items only once per round.
I guess I can only hunt a max number of times equal to number of beast cards in the hunting deck, not more, right?
yes!
8. I see that Weapons level is marked 1,2,3,4,5,"6...". This "..." makes me think that you can have an unlimited Weapons level. I also found a rule on page 11:
"Roof, Palisade and Weapons levels are not limited"
My questions is, why don't the Roof and Palisade levels use the "..." notation to show they are unlimited?
I don't know. Perhap it is more likely that you get 7 weapon than 5 roof a there are several items that give you 2 or 3 weapon at once but very few items that give you more than one roof/palisade.
Anyways it usually makes no sense to build any of these trait higher than the maximum printed number.
9. In the first scenario, I guess I cannot just use again wood that I've already put in the pile to pay something later on, if I don't have enough wood.
No you used it to build the pile and can't take it back.
10. Will a "+1 wood/food" token on a hex that doesn't have that specific resource at all (or it's already exhausted) give anything to the players during Production/Gathering?
Yes it goes from wood 0 to wood 1.
