when you build the fire you increase your palisade once. You have the fire for the rest of the game and can build as many other items which use fire as you want.
This doesn't answer the question. The question deals with the fireplace, and its special action can be used once a round, as I stated above.
It is true that some items give a benefit only once, esp. when it deals with an increase of something like weapon strength or palisade - then it is only once.
