We're certainly not lacking in games that have been aggressively simplified to the point of extreme minimalism. So when you vociferously advocate for that in every possible game, it gets a bit tiresome.

"In every possible game"? What hat are you pulling this from? A couple weeks ago, I investigated Advanced Squad Leader: Starter Kit #1 and am now eager to give it a whirl. AS-freaking-L!

There is a big difference (to my way of thinking, anyway) in a complex game that aims to be a simulation (like ASL) and a complex game that just seems to be an odd collection of Euro mechanics. I liked my first play of Terra Mystica well enough, and I have liked similarly busy games (like Vinhos and Trajan). On the whole, though, I don't think it's a good trend.
