We've been playing a lot of Shadowfist lately, and everyone in the group has been hampered by power problems one time or another. We do use the 20% Feng Shui sites as suggested by the rules. The early game you are trying to get Feng Shui sites and some characters but it is an either-or: use the power just generated by the sites you've already played, or play a Character to defend that site structure. How can one speed that up?
Now factions that have access either to Chi or Magic can use Violet Mediation or Pocket Demon to offset this problem. The Ascended are all about power manipulation and have the power cards built in faction. Jammers have Scrounging, which is a weak version of Pocket Demon/Violet Meditation. Dragons have the very limited Kii-yah!* which is inferior even to Scrounging, never mind PD/VM.
So are there other ways to generate power besides the obvious cards and speed up the opening turns of the game?
*Play during your main shot, and only on target opponent who controls three or more Power-generating sites. Take up to 3 Power from target's pool and add it to your own.
