At the beginning of each game, every player can choose whichever character they want out of the pool of all available characters. It does not need to be the same character that was played previously. In fact, the back of every character card has a log you should fill out that lists the "month" that was played, who played the character, whether you won or lost, and the date. So swapping is allowed if not encouraged :)

The upper right ladder is not on a legal position. Each new placed card must be connected via a path to another path in the maze. There is no exception for the ladders.

Placing the same card (in the same orientation) under the blocking card is well allowed. Both paths are connected.

Thanks for the reply Frederic.

Then a question... if I move the ladder under the blocking card as you suggest (and as I suspected) in my mind it creates a short path starting from the blocking one to the ladder.

Then? I assume i can't continue from the ladder in any way, so what's the point in having the ladder there? I'm sorry asking something that must be very clear for some others but as you can see things aren't 100% easy for newcomers.

I so wish the other topic here about ladders had images visible, I know you've been talking about it extensively already.

I hope to clear it out before saturday when we want to try out the game!

Thanks for helping.

After I got one of the rare copies of this game at Essen and played it twice I definitely want more :)

Do you have an update about the expansion? Maybe some teasers you are working on? Or a rough estimate about the date? Anything? :p

Oh, how did you get a copy?
There were only five German version KCs on the fair. The rest was on a delayed both unfortunately. That's what happends when Spiel is 10 days earlier than usual :goo:
AFAIK, the Z-Man booth didn't have any English KC for sale.
It's still available at a lot of web shops around the globe though.

My boyfriend luckily found an english version of the game at a small booth after we heard about the boat delay from Asmodee and Z-Man and me nonstop grumbling about that ;)

As for the Expansion thoughts, now that Spiel '15 is over and my brother and I seem to have more time on our hands again, we will for sure post a teaser about it. As soon as *this* and *this* and *that* is done of course

So far: No date. No decision. Just pre-design so far. Don't know if it could be an official expansion yet or DLC/PnP, Kickstarter or something else.

Can't wait for it, this game definitely deserves some cool expansions :meeple: And from what I heard at Essen I was not the only one asking for the game, so hopefully Asmodee and Z-Man noticed the demand for the game.

Unlikely case but we needed to cover it.[/o]

[o]Thank you!

I think the fact that you "add" it made me think incorrectly. Acting like a research station is there for this turn only makes sense, without actually adding one to the board. Thanks again.

I was able to get my paypal order to go through by tweaking my address slightly... in my case, removing the text 'Apt' and just putting my unit number after the street name worked. :what: I used German language version of the site, translated by chrome.

I see... So the problem might lies on different format of address used by the website and Paypal?

Sigh... I give up. Unless something is changed in the website, I can't buy the mini expansion from HiG.

If someone in UK has extra copy of this, I'd love to buy it!

If you're still having problems in both languages and you're in the US, check your billing/shipping address and make sure you specified your state. I'm not sure how I missed the button popping up to specify my state, but their system will happily let you set your address with only a city and zip code, but will refuse to actually place the order. Editing to add a state worked flawlessly.

I tried this, and it still failed for me.

Follow on question:

[o]Can anyone build a military base, or is it only the Operations Expert? His is the only role card to mention "building a structure"; and building is only referenced in the rules pertaining to research centers.[/o]

My wife and I are now in June, each playing a single character and it's working great. We're both having a lot of fun with it!

Finally got it to work. There is a setting of originating country and state you have to set before placing the order. I missed it because it is so easy to miss.

Underneath the insert in Risk Legacy was an envelope that simply stated "DO NOT OPEN THIS ENVELOPE - EVER"

As there were no rules about if and when to open it, it was always left entirely to the group playing the game if and when they chose to open the envelope.

Inside the envelope would be a set of cards, stickers, etc. that changed the whole game permanantly. I know for sure of at least 2 different sets of cards that could be included (you only got one in each copy of the game) but I'm not sure how many there were out there in total.

My group made the joint decision to open our envelope after 10 of our 15 games. I won't say what was in it, but I will say that I really wish we had never opened it, as the consequences were massive, and not particularly nice.

But were the Rick Legacy boxes different colors or just all boxes had random cards? It's possible with Pandemic Legacy, two colors, to sets of packs only, versus random??

Risk Legacy Boxes were the same, but with different inserts. However, both Rob Daviau and Matt Leacock (game designers) have explicitly said that the boxes are all identical (except the color) and there is no random insert this time.
