Most of the time, you effectively trade a card for an empty slot from the other players hand.

Yes, use 2 cubes.
Similar to how you track your money with 2 tokens.

Can I discard cards without being forced to do it?

I am asking because another character and I are rivals. So, she could pick it up by discarding two cards.

You get to open box 8 after you lost 4 in a row.

We won Jan+Feb and just lost one on the way so we play mostly without fundings, too. It is hard, but it is feasible :-)

Me? Through my wife's work, I have access to a 3d printer that's well outside of my personal price range. Very lucky that they let us "play" with it for the price of resin. (It's called the "Moonray S")

I have definitely been considering picking up a cheaper filament-based Makerbot-like printer (I'm terrible with remembering the terminology) for home though.
Some things sound like they would print better with filament than they do with resin, and also easier to switch colors that way.

We went with underwater cities.

North Atlantic: Rapture
South Atlantic: Bikini Bottom
Mediterranean: Sealab

[o]West Pacific: Atlantica - Story here, I ask the table for name suggestions, somebody says "It's dumb, but there's Atlantica, the base from [I don't remember the reference]". I go "It's even dumber considering it's in the Pacific". 3rd player "I guess this means we have to do it".
Indian: Ys
East Pacific: The End of the World - The player who found this decided to go against our naming scheme, but I figured it was appropriate.

Do you have anything to back this statement? It seems pretty popular to me and they are releasing a lot of expansions and promos for it.

I read the forums and old artwork is a lot more pleasing to most of the people. I also like old artwork more, the new one looks goofy. And no, they're NOT releasing "a lot of expansions and promos", only a few. Mostly they re-released big expansions, which is basically a reprint with new artwork and can't be counted as "releasing a lot of expansion".

If I'm understanding correctly, each tile would only fit at a particular radius out from the centre. That'd immediately complicate things as you'd need a separate tile stack for each radius, which not only destroys the simplicity of the game but removes the variety as the number of possible layouts of each concentric ring is small.

Wrong translation. I already told you, where exactly I got my opinion on the matter. Read the Carcassonne forums yourself and see, how many people displeased with new artwork.

Acolytes might be the easiest faction to get 4 towns, see e.g.

https://terra.snellman.net/game/Jan237
https://terra.snellman.net/game/PleasePlayQuickly19
https://terra.snellman.net/game/Kuha03

This doesn't mean that Acolytes should always aim for it, but it does prove that they are strong in at least that aspect.

Acolytes can be played by expanding early, spending all or all but 1 of your initial cult steps to spam dwellings, including turn 1 priest. This strategy usually works if you can hurt your opponents while expanding, taking some of their key areas and securing at least 2 town spots for yourself during the early expansion. When this strategy is used, cult bonuses are not so relevant as you won't be able to get a large advantage out of them anyway. This strategy doesn't work at all if you start from your own corner - your moment of power is the 1st turn and you should use it to slow down the progress of opponents as much as possible.

However, maybe the stronger cult-heavy Acolyte strategy requires more specific setup. If you try this in a setup with 3 or more spade cult bonuses you're likely to fail. You're going to need at least 2, but preferably all 3 cult bonuses which give workers and coins during the first 4 turns and TE >> 4 on turn 4 or turn 5 is really nice as well. If you have this kind of setup, just get a lot of workers and coins from cults (ignoring only 1 or maybe 2 cults), keep your dwelling count always at 3 or above and finish 2 towns early (turns 2-4) and always take town tiles which give cult steps.

Take at least 1 infra favor (all of them are situationally good), most likely from the 1st temple. If the game has low leech, you should maybe also get 2nd infra favor but otherwise go for scoring favors after that. If you go for 4 towns, take fav5 later in the game, but otherwise you will not need it.

Acolyte SA seems expensive, but it's often quite good when using cult-heavy strategy but remember to have at least 1 or maybe 2 infra favors. Expanding costs cults which you cannot usually afford, so to get early town(s) you're going to need turn 2-3 SA. Acolyte SH should usually be avoided until late game which is when it might be useful if you need it to build your last town. Often good Acolyte setups have SA/SH >> 5 bonuses early, which means that SH is very often a poor investment.

Thread: Pandemic Legacy: Season 2:: Rules:: Question about may objectives (SPOILERS)

Hi everyone, I have a question about objectives in may. In fact, we have a situation that sounds awkward to me. Here follow SPOILERS for BEGINNING OF MAY and RECON IN EUROPE.

[o]
We won late april without completing the "Access a lost haven" objective, so it remains there as a possible objective for may. However, if we've not missed something, in our situation we will be able to complete this objective with a single action! In fact...

1) The Legacy Deck at the end of april reveals the location of the lost haven and connects it to Lima (card 05-01b and sticker 60). The same card says explicitly "You have not yet accessed this haven", so the objective card should remain.
2) Lima is already connected to our grid, so now also the lost haven is.
3) We've completed the recon in Europe, so we have the shuttle flight action, and we can fly from one haven to another connected to the grid

So it appears that at the very beginning, anyone starting from a haven can shuttle flight to the lost haven and complete the objective.

Is it correct or are we missing something? Thanks!

You didn't say anything as a counter argument, so your interpretation of my statement is even less fact. Also I'd suggest you to learn the meaning of "as far as I'm aware" phrase from my initial post. Might help you understand other members' replies in the future.
