I'm glad you liked it so much. I love it as well. Just so you know, I've found that after a few plays I've gotten my plays down to 1.5 - 2 hours.↧

You are repeatedly "weighing in" by pointing out the obvious and uncontested fact that drafting cards is a variant. Again, we know. May we consider that matter settled?

----- LEGENDS -----
In my experience, it's never worth discarding just to change legends, so the valuation of legend cards is only about whether a legend is worth building toward or not. If you *are* discarding because you need to change faction cards, any legend you don't think is worth building toward should be thrown back. (For one thing, you might get something better. For another, it gives you more information about which legends your opponent can and can't have!)
Does the statement above apply to all factions?
I would say so, except maybe for Sylvan, which really does rely on legends to provide striking power. If you have some unbelievably terrible pair like Two-Headed
*I think these are by far the two worst legends for Sylvan, because Two-Headed Dragon is just too big for Sylvan (or anyone, really) to summon, and the typical compact Sylvan position makes it hard to summon Titan without hurting yourself more than your opponent. Your mileage may vary.

The Dragon is indeed rotten--2 points but it barely DOES anything. Usually best if you get Time Elemental down, then summon it with the same pattern, for a nifty 3 points. Otherwise, it's a millstone.Titan is OK, I like being able to destroy a lot of pieces including my own to avoid the usual flare repercussions. But it sucks not being able to score a destruction task off it usually. It's got decent range at least. It basically functions as a 1-VP grab + reset button by wiping out part of the board; or else a good way to lob a legend onto a coloured square.

Thread: Onirim (second edition):: Rules:: The Towers (a couple of questions)
by argentetbury
I have a couple of questions about The Towers expansion:1. When resolving a Nightmare and you decide to discard your hand, do you discard the Towers in your hand too? (The rulebook says "after drawing and resolving a Nightmare card, you must also discard a placed Tower card (the Tower cards in the hand of the player(s) are not affected")).
2. Can you add more than 4 Towers to your Tower row? (I ask because it would be advantageous to do so because you will have surplus Towers in your Tower row to discard when Nightmares appear).

So I've been meaning to ask this... Does the Automa actually get anything from the round bonus or is it strictly taken so every single 1 isn't available to the player every round? Specifically I'm referring to the VP bonuses you can often get.↧

For DocCool's eventual #FAQ
Basically, no double dipping is allowed.
I prefer using the term free conversion instead of free action. Actions take your turn. IIRC, all conversions of resources from one type into another (or intangible benefit like QIC into +2 NAV) do not take your turn and must be performed before or after your main action (this is true in Terra Mystica and Gaia Project).

Why not?
Moving the power tokens from area III to the gaia_area and get the knowledges is just the Nevlas' ability, isn't it?

Here is the draft rule quoted from p12 of the rules:
Certainly not a "house rule".
* Draft: Before the game starts, each player receives a hand of 7 Occupation cards as usual, then chooses one and passes the rest to her left-hand neighbor. Each player chooses one of the 6 new cards and passes on the remaining 5. This continues until each player has 7 cards. Repeat this process with the Minor Improvement cards.
Certainly not a "house rule".
So, the draft is in the rules as the way to play the game. Ok, then I'm totally wrong and have been playing the game very wrong. My rules don't say this at all however... odd.
Glad you love ASL though!

Nevlas don't gain knowledge when doing a Gaia Project.

It's just to deny a Booster from the human.
They don't get vp from the boosters.
If things are not difficult enough for you, you can add them in if you like! :) It would be a nice variant though. I'd imagine it would add an average of 6vp for each time it took a vp booster.

I did a bit of a test. Here in the Midwest it was cold as hell the past week. I increased the humidity in my house from a very low 20% to a more normal 35% and it made all the difference. The boards are pretty much staying perfectly straight.I think this seems counter-intuitive, but my game copy got significantly BETTER with a more normal humidity. Usually we try to remove humidity from game boxes with Silica packs and such.
I suspect these games must have been printed in an environment that had a near normal amount of humidity. Being transported half-way across the planet to my wintry home where the humidity was low, was what caused the warping.
That being said, I haven't seen another game be as bad as these boards for me. My other games had a mild amount of warping but Gaia Project was definitely affected the worst. At least the problem appears to be fixed for me now.

Hello,I haven’t received my game yet but I want to get some card sleeves ready.
I’m assuming the card sizes are exactly the same as Pandemic and Pandemic Iberia?
From the rules book:
7 Role cards
78 player cards
56 Dike Failure cards
5 reference Cards
12 Objective Cards
1 Population Loss/Setup Card
Total = 159

Not a bad suggestion for a straight mid-weight euro that is accessible for casual to next level gamers, although if you're looking for theme, this ain't it.
Gaia Project is amazing. The solo mode is actually quite good, and I care very little for most solo games. I know it's on the expensive side, but you could play solo and hope that someday, just maybe, your girlfriend will take a liking to it.
